Clubhouse-Style Lounge Replaces Dirty Disco
:

Adding to the nightlife spots along West 14th Street is Country Club, a bar and lounge that opens today. Owned by actor William DeMeo and Cincinnati Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo, the venue is adjacent to Noel Ashman's the Plumm and occupies the space that once housed Dirty Disco. Designed as a modern version of early 20th century English and American clubhouses, Country Club is furnished with various period-style furnishings.
Occupying 3,000 square feet at ground level, the nightclub
is a small but open space with a bar up front and banquettes
lining the walls of the lounge. An elevated section
at the back is an informal stage area where the owners
plan to showcase live musical acts and other performers.
Also on-site is a fully-equipped DJ booth, and later
this year Country Club will open a 40-seat screening
room on the lower level.
Jeani Ziering, an interior designer who has previously
worked on private residences in Palm Beach and Southampton,
is responsible for the decor at Country Club, which
includes green- and white-striped banquettes, alligator
upholstery, mahogany wall paneling, and framed black-and-white
photographs. And in keeping with the clubhouse style,
the lounge offers a menu of snacks-flavored popcorn,
truffled grilled cheese, and peaches with prosciutto
and basil-as well as an extensive selection of bellinis.
Country Club holds 250 for receptions or 100 seated.
